“Winter Wonderland less than 3 hours from Oslo with car. When visiting Norway during winter make sure to stop by in Trysil for some skiing adventures.”

Trysil is the largest ski destination in Norway with slopes for everybody to enjoy. This is a place for beginner skiers and for more experienced ones which makes it a perfect place to travel in larger groups with friends or as a couple. After a whole day alpine skiing you can either enjoy some relaxing time in a cozy cabin, a spa hotel or spend some fun time during après-ski and share some drinking and singing with mostly Norwegians and Swedes. If you are a non-stop skier or if you would like to ski under the stars, Trysil offer night skiing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from the time it gets dark at 4:30PM to 8:00PM. I highly recommend night skiing since the sunset, the light from the stars and the moon is amazing, if you are truly lucky you can even get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Although this place is busy with locals and tourists it is remarkable quiet and relaxing. I was there for three days but it felt like at least a week and I returned home wellrested.

Me and my family decided to rent a cabin in Hedmark a couple of km from the Trysil mountain since the cabins nearby were fully booked but also because we wanted to get that extra cozy feeling that comes with the combination of nature and silence. We booked our cabin via AirBnB and the only thing I regret is that we didn't go hiking with sleds the first day we arrived. I would love to see what's behind those mountains that you can see on the picture above, but I will surely come back for it. We had breakfast early in the morning to an amazing sunrise, we tried a lot of local food that we bought in supermarkets and got to speak more with the locals. So if there aren't any cabins in the area near Trysil available I highly recommend you to rent a cabin via AirBnB. As I mentioned you'll get to know the locals better and have the ability to try and cook local food. The restaurants offer mostly pizza and hamburgers for a very high cost. The area of Hedmark is also a great place for cross-country skiing and I will with no doubt come back to try that aswell!

If you are traveling to Norway during winter time, do to stop by Trysil for a great skiing experience.

Traveling as a family with kids? No problem, Trysil is a super family friendly ski destination with separate child-slopes. For kids in age 6 and under the ski rental is at a low cost and the SkiPass for free. There is a thing called kids-offpist where kids in age 7-11 can ski with a guide for 3 hours with hot chocolate and home baked cakes included in the price, perfect if mom and dad wants to hit the big slopes and get some alone time! The place also offer ski school and childcare. The restaurants offer variable kids menus.
