Café Tomaselli is a must-go.
They say that; "A good day starts with breakfast at the Tomaselli." Unfortunately I have not tried their breakfast yet, but its definitely on my list!
I have fallen in love with Austria in general, the architecture, the food, the Austrian culture and of course the desserts. But there is something special about Salzburg, it has really become one of my favourite cities in Europe, specially Salzburg´s Old Town. It is filled with history and you can almost imagine going back in time, back to the time when Mozart was growing up in the mid 18th century and were looking up to the Alps getting inspiration to his beautiful classical notes. As you may know, Mozart was from Salzburg and so is the oldest café in Austria. It seems to me like it is not only Mozarts music that has become immortal but also the vibrating Café Tomaselli which has existed now for over 300 years. Therefore, Salzburg must be a magical place.
The first thing you notice when stepping in at the Tomaselli is how peaceful it is, you can hear just enough buzz to feel comfortable to enjoy your own conversations. At the same time you feel like you are sharing this incredibly cozy and historical place with others visiting the café, which makes this place warm and welcoming. The service is what you would expect, incredible. You will get well taken care of and at the same time you will get privacy, which I think is very important when visiting a Café since it is a time for chatting. When ordering pastries a "kaffeedame" (coffee waitress) will come to your table with different kinds of pastries that you can choose from, I found that very cute and I loved that I could get a front road view of what we were ordering. Café Tomaselli´s coffee is the best one I have ever had, it was not the original good but boring every day coffee, it was topped with almonds and an incredible milk fluff, dreamy dreamy dreamy. To the Tomaselli Coffee you get a so called Mozart liquor to pour in to your coffee like an avec or to sip it just as it is.
So, when in Salzburg do visit Café Tomaselli.
